Montejaque is small, but you eat very well here. These are the places we recommend to our guests: tapas on the square, mountain cooking, Italian food, a special dinner in a garden and a roadside restaurant a few minutes' drive away. Almost all of them are a short walk from Casa Minarete.
Mountain and Italian cooking
On the Plaza de la Constitución, with a sunny terrace facing the town hall and the church. Mountain dishes such as oxtail or venison stew, as well as pasta and Italian cooking. Open from breakfast time.
Tapas and sharing plates
Next to the square, a charming place with artistic decor. Home-made tapas and sharing plates in a real village atmosphere.
Tapas bar
On the square. Friendly service, good tapas at good prices and sangria. A good place to start the evening.
Wine, cheese and cured meats
A small wine bar in an alley next to the square, with a terrace. Perfect for an aperitif: a glass of wine or a beer with quality cheese, ham or cured pork loin.
Careful cooking with a garden
Tucked away in the lower part of the village, with a lovely garden. Home-made bread, thin-crust pizzas, tuna tapas and good meat. Booking is advisable. To get there, go down the hill and look for a black door on the right.
Italian food and music
At the entrance to the village. Italian cooking with its own twist, pizzas, draught beer and, on some days, live music.
Breakfast and lunch
A good place for breakfast, with freshly squeezed orange juice, and for a simple lunch. It is known for its paella.
Home cooking with a terrace
On the Benaoján road, a few minutes' drive away and on the way to the Cueva del Gato. Home cooking with a terrace: a good lunch stop after a walk. Lunchtime only.
A quick summary based on usual opening hours. La Grulla only opens at lunchtime from Friday to Sunday, Copas HV only in the evening and Casa Lola only at lunchtime.

In small villages opening hours change with the season, and in winter some places open fewer days. If you have your heart set on somewhere, call ahead, especially from Monday to Thursday.
At weekends, in summer and during fiestas, book at La Grulla and Entre Ascuas & La Roca.
You can't park on the square, so leave the car a little before and walk up.
From Casa Minarete you can get everywhere in the village on foot.
